L47FET
Big
magic comes in small packages!
The L47FET (formerly
known as the L47SH) is new and improved! It has a new lightweight
one-piece machined aluminum body finished in durable satin chrome.
The head is machined brass and plated with luscious bright nickel.
The L47FET's rugged design, lighter weight, and small profile make
it easy to fit into tight spaces such as bass drum.
Because the
L47FET boasts the same capsule
as the L47MP MKII, it really shines on vocal, both sung and spoken.
The L47FET may well be one of the best voice-over microphones available
and is quickly finding favor among many broadcast and voice-over
talents.
There is wide
discussion about the sonic differences between solid state microphones
such as the L47FET and their tube counterparts i.e., the L47MP MKII.
Many engineers describe the L47FET as more "focused" or
"clinical" sounding while attributing a "softer,"
"warmer" sound to the L47MP MKII. Needless to say, there
are differences in sound between the two electronics. In some instances,
the truer sound of the L47FET is preferred; in other situations,
the warmth and roundness of the L47MP MKII is chosen. Since personal
tastes vary widely, we suggest that you try both. Simply order an
L47MP MKII with a Lawson FET electronics. With the Quick Change™
system, simply remove the head from the L47MP MKII and put it on
your FET electronics. Listen to both. Let your ears decide which
is best for you.
There are several
advantages to the L47FET:
*
The L47FET is convenient, small, and lightweight. No outboard power
supply is needed;
*
The L47FET operates on 48V phantom. There is only one cable required
to connect your L47FET to your mic pre or console;
*
The L47FET is very affordable.
Although the
L47FET solid state electronics are capable of only a cardioid response,
the L47FET's Quick Change™
capsule, when used with any Lawson multi-pattern electronics is
capable of full multi-pattern functionality making it a perfect
companion to the L251 tube microphone.
Remove the Quick Change™ capsule from the L47FET, put it on
your L251 tube electronics, and voila! You have an L47MP MKII. Put
the L251 capsule on the FET electronics and record with the L251FET.
The L47FET
uses all discrete components including one percent low noise metal
film resistors. No integrated circuits or surface mount parts are
used.
